E85 test on 2006 Toyota Corolla

OK. I finally did it on Friday. I put in about a gallon and a half of E85 to a full tank of gasoline.
Here's some info. To whomever is keeping records here(someone said they were), post your questions about what you need/want to know. Here's what I have.

2006 Toyota Corolla(base model, nothing special)
171,000 miles
13.1 gallon tank
4 cylinder, 16 valves
Had the oil/filter changed today. The oil after 5,000 miles has always looked like new oil
Added 1.5 gallons of E85 at $1.69
Has been averaging 34.8 to 35.1 MPG on gas on mixed highway use(50% city, 25% 55mph, 25% interstate)

Only ran it 5 miles so far and no change and no check engine light-)

Just an update:

Still been running 60-70% E85 unaltered without a single problem. So much for the rubber and gaskets not being able to handle it, huh?
Working on getting a converter(fooler) kit from fuel flex international, hopefully this weekend I can order it.

That is good to hear! Thank you for giving us the update. I'm glad it is working out so well. Let us know how the converter kit installation goes too. I'm sure others will be interested in how easy/difficult it is to install.

I'm still not making enough ethanol to run our cars - so far just enough for the lawnmower and an electric generator. So I was delighted when a gas station close to work put in an E85 pump a few weeks ago.

I started at 25% E85 and emptied the tank. The car ran fine. The next week I went to 40% E85 and all was good. This week (the third week) I got impatient and filled the tank with E85. Yes the check engine light came on and the car is hard to start cold. Other than that it runs great with very good performance - especially at high RPMs.

The millage went from 28 to 24 mpg. I'm going to run this way for a couple more weeks to be sure the millage is actuate and nothing else changes. Then I'll install one of the conversion devices hoping the millage goes up. I'll let you all know how it goes.

Hello and congrats on the testing of the E85. My wife and I were always mixing the E85 and E10 to get approx E47 and it worked very well. Her car is a 2004 Subaru outback 4cyl FYI.

We finally purchased one of the conversion kits in david's site and installed it. It was super easy and took about 15mins. I have absolutely no automotive experiance at all so I was just as surprised as my wife that there were no Check engine light! She has been running E85 for the past 3 months and the car runs better than ever and we are saving about $0.40 a gallon too along with providing less carbon and toixns. What a win win situation!
