I really feel like that florida has an abundance of crops that would be perfect for ethanol production. We have a huge sugar cane industry that is really dying at the moment because of foreign imports and free trade etc., and there is a lot of potential there. Not to mention the number of lakes containing cat-tails, and the abundance of Kudzu, which i havent heard of anyone using yet but id love to experiment with. So many possibilities.

What we need to do is get active before they realize they can regulate and tax us into a price that matches gas. Waste Management has jumped on bio diesel by paying restaurants to take their throw away oil. Which locks us out there. Now I hear that some states are charging tax to people selling power back to the electric companies (like they do the power companies, which can absorb this and pass it on to us).

I am in St. Pete and I am interested in forming a local CSE for alcohol and bio-fuel production. I am currently active on many fronts in promoting sustainablilty and renewable energy.

Hi fellow Floridians. After I bought David's book in May of this year I couldn't wait to get the word out! I've been explaining and telling everyone about the wonders of ethanol and about David's book, and on of the very first things I did was email George Noory at C2C and told him about what a great guest Dave Bloom would be, and how we needed to get the truth out about ethanol! A lot of people heard his interview on July 17 of this year.
Now I'm working on converting and tuning my 18yo daily driver Honda to Flex Fuel. I'm also eagerly anticipating the arrival of our first E85 Fueling station here in Jacksonville.

Anyone in the Kissimmee, Orlando or surrounding area (50 miles) interested in getting together and get this thing started or any groups already going that I can get in with?

I agree with D.Thomas Laskowski comments. The concept and ideas are great but the production of home brew, alcohol fuel will always be blocked due to the gov. needs for control.
We have to look at it as a business people. They want taxes from fuel sales and taking away fossil fuel will reduce the fed and state tax collections.
It's much like setting up a Walmart next to your mom and pop shop. Walmart prices will be cheaper but the need to collect taxes will not go away.
If we produce fuel for our own needs but set up a network to share ideas to build, maintain and improve production we might be able to avoid gov regulations and still do our part in reduction of fossil fuel consumption.

Antares, check out Agro Gas at http://kudzunol.com/ They are active in distilling ethanol from Kudzu in Tennessee.
