Welcome to the discussion, Denise!

I'd be very interested in hearing anything you've found out about regulations here in Canada, especially those for British Columbia
cheers,
Clint

Hi all,

Looks like there's both federal and provincial permissions necessary here (no big surprise there):

Does a producer of fuel-ethanol require an Excise Duty licence from the Canada Revenue Agency to carry on their business?

Yes, all producers of ethyl alcohol (ethanol), including producers of fuel-ethanol and other persons making ethanol for beverage or non-beverage purposes, must have a spirits licence. Such a licence is issued under the authority of the Excise Act, 2001, and allows for the production of ethyl alcohol and its denaturing for non-beverage uses. Spirits licensee must also post security in order to obtain the licence. Persons wishing to become producers of ethanol should contact their nearest regional Excise Duty office of the Canada Revenue Agency for further information.

A list of the Excise Duty offices and telephone numbers can be found on the Agency's website.

Information on provincial requirements for the production of fuel-ethanol can be obtained by contacting your provincial liquor authority.

hope that helps a bit

I'm working on that right now.I've talked to an official in Manitoba and he gave me some contacts in the federal government that'll help us get this going.
