Thanks, Ron, Cmbining objectives and including our community waste water people mmakes a lot of sense. The BIGGEST problem in Kitsap Co, that I see is that I am the FIRST to approach them. They've never dealt with anybody with a fuel still, and you never wat to be the first in any regulatory environment! I'll check with the waste water people. Thanks again.

Peggy Korth posted this on my page so I am re-posting here for you all

Hello Ron,

Thank you for the update on your project. I'm pleased that my Small Scale Bioenergy books are helping and assume that you are reading our Cattail Hithings newsletters on our progress as well. This has been a power-packed summer in cattail education. Having a wee bit of help is a tremendous boost. You have a variety of comments in your replies that I would like to comment on. Your distillery looks great. Good job! Let me know if you have read my recent posts on rhizome processing and cattail harvesting in my newsletters or the alcoholfuel forum. I have not quite caught on to posting in Dave's group.
To Jim H. Congratulations on the mobile distillery precedent. Thank you for the huge step forward. Your example needs to be understood and followed universally. Please confirm that your permit has been issued.
To Trent B.: If you can combine objectives and include your community waste water people, you may be ablt to grow cattail as a field crop and enlist the support and assistance of the local government. That is what we are doin. There can be different lessons to learn, but right now the porject is moving on.
To Wild Man: We have decent fermentaion with Ale Yeasts. And now we are expanding to enzymes and nutrients. I wrote on this in the Alcoholfuel forum which is a current thread being disucssed. (Sept 09)
To Alison: Mission Community College is doing a similar project with their students as you have in your business plan.
I don't have a great deal of time to address each of you separately, so I hope that you get to see this post. You really need to read our free Cattail Histhings newsletters and please contribute. We have several hundred subscribers and share general cattail experience.
Best wishes,
Peggy

HI All
Project update:
Posted some pics of boiler tank progress on my page...tank is stainless 450 gallon low pressure boiler to go with my still...tank is designed to provide maximum surface area for vapor output...Dusty the welder who is building it has been making some progress and next we will be working on heating elements for the boiler that use hot oil for heat source...this tank is not very pretty as it is built using any scrap stainless we had around however it is very functional and durable...

Check this out! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yh_-DUKQ4Uw

With your cogeneration system set up you may be able to run an alcohol engine to spin the device and then you have your hot water too! This is their website http://www.hydrodynamics.com/index.htm

So what do you think?

Hello Chistopher

No I have had to many Irons in the fire this summer...I have been trying to develop the ag project and have had all my time used up by that effort...I do have the welder working on it a few hrs a week this month so we will see how far he gets...

Christopher Johnson Comment by Christopher Johnson on July 5, 2009 at 2:22pm
just posted a few photos of my C803 under construction. I hope to have it finished in a couple of weeks. I'm still saving up for the temperature control valve.

I agree, Lowes is practically worthless. They are geared to DIY home owners, you need a commercial supply. First try a scrap yard for best prices if ya don't mind digging for it. You can buy new from a pluming supply like Keller or Fergusen but will have to buy full lengths. You can try to find a friendly plumber with some extra pieces that you can talk him out of for cheap. Beer may help.

Hey does anyone know where to get pipes from? I've been drawing up some cool distiller plans, now I want to make them! And go figure Lowes doesn't have crap for pipes!! I found OnlineMetals.com which has pretty much everything, first I would love some recommendations though!

Thanks!
