Hi John,
Its good to hear you are using ethanol on your vehicle without any issues. I haven't tried using E85 blends on my old Saturn yet. The Sunoco station at M59 and Hickory Ridge now sells E85, and I fill up there regularly. I plan to introduce the E86 gradually, to avoid any problems with the gunk in the tank.
Take a look at my page, I posted some pics of my still project. Its almost done, but I need to find a distilling tank yet. It looks like Rick R may be able to help me out with that. This spring, I am going to grow some wurtzel (fodder) beets for their sugar content. I would like to demonstrate how someone can produce ethanol from the ground up.
Hi John, I've been waiting for months to find other people working on micro-scale ethanol for months now with-in a couple of weeks 2 show up in Livingston Co. (I'm in Howell). It looks like both you and Craig are a step or two ahead of me but building my still has made it to the top of my priority list.
We are currently running a 2001 taurus (factory flex fuel), a 2002 Ranger with an added computer to run on E-85 and also a '98 GMC Jimmy that typically runs on 40% Ethanol. The picture I'm using on here was my son's 94 Ranger which has since been replaced with a diesel.
Hi John,
I am also an automotive engineer that lives in Howell and works at GM's MPG. I am currently working to build an alcohol production system and am looking for like-minded individuals in the Livingston County area. So far I am close to completion of a Charles 803 still. Also, I am familiar with the process of making beer, having recently bottled my 9th batch last week. I would like to hear from you on your interests in alcohol fuel.
Craig

What do you have to say about Dave's book "Alcohol Can Be A Gas"?
I appreciate the mix between the "story" and the technical details included in Dave's book. So far, I have produced a couple of small batches of alcohol, and working on a small scale still. I think I'm going to be reading and rereading this book for quite a while.
