Thats at the other end of the UP. :) Good to know they are working on it though. I wish I could get some state and federal funds to make my plan work, if only I knew who to contact and how to put it all down for them. It will be about 5 years minimum if I finance it all myself, at that rate it wont be helping people very soon.

It makes perfect sense to build a cellulose plant here, we need one near Marquette too. Although I would prefer not to mix it with gasoline, its understandable why they do.

Thanks for the kind words Rick. I didn't know there was a plant UP here, well other than the paper mills, they don't exactly make fuel. Most of my neighbors are interested, problem is they are even more broke than I am, and have less time. I'm building another still this weekend, should have it operable by Tuesday at the latest.

I would be interested in barrels, except that Detroit is a bit of a drive. I have a couple sources for used barrels, but not as many as I will need. Also how much they want makes a big difference.

Rick,
I posted some pics of the still on my page. The condenser coil bypass has yet to be completed, and I am thinking about how I want to do this yet. If you would like to get involved, I would appreciate that. Since it looks like you have a pickup truck, I would like to make a trip to Detroit to get some barrels, or possibly use the one you have. At some point, I would like to have a barrel for fermentation in a solar heated box, and then one or two for heating tanks. I look forward to working with someone in Howell on this. My regular email is dvtester@hotmail.com.

Rick,
Check with me before you get any 3" or 2" copper pipe. I had to bite the bullet and get 10' lengths of each and have enough for another still. I am waiting on a 3-2" reducing coupler right now. It should be there today. I used the 2" copper rather than the 1.5" since the coupler was available. I only needed about a foot or so of the 2" pipe. I found a place in Detroit that sells new 55 gal drums. I just need to find a way to transport them.

Hi Rick,
I also live in the Howell area and am actively working to develop an alcohol production system. I am almost done with my Charles 803 still and have been brewing beer for about a year now. I look forward to finding others in the Livingston County area that are interested in making their own fuel.

Hey Rick,

I agree, time is hard to come by! I hope to attend a workshop sooner or later.

Hopefully you will post some pictures of your still when it is up and running.

All my best,

Robby

Hey Rick,

Pretty cool that one of your kids is already brewing his own fuel. I have so much to learn, but am inspired by people who are already taking their future into their own hands.

"I would like to know when the "lab portion" will be offered"

Would you be willing to clarify what you mean by that? Are looking for workshops?

All my best,

Robby

An excellent starting point. I would like to know when the "lab portion" will be offered.
