Hi Russell, This is very typical and will not inflict any damage what so ever. What made the check ingine light come on is a fuel sensor in the tank sensing the large amount of ethanol in the tank. Unless you have a flex fuel vehicle the computer can not make the changes needed for the Ethanol so it turns on the check ingine light as fare warning. Also when we run E85 in any none flex fuel vehicle the computer is monitoring the emissions comming from the tail pipe. Ethanol burns so much cleaner and the computer can not figure out why so again it turns on the check ingine light. You can run up to a 50% E85 splash mix without any issues or check ingine light comming on.
