Hey, Newman, I'm going to be in Bellingham on Sunday and would like to drop by and see your set up. I'm just starting to build my still and would like to see how best to bend the small tubing and how to insert them into the pipe . If you could give me a call at 425-344-4405 maybe we could set something up. Thanks

Neuman: My schedule is crammed at the moment: work, cooking for the family, classes at BTC Tuesday and Wednesday and caring for mom, which is a bit up in the air right now, so Thursday or weekend would be best. I have fabrication skills also but tend to perfection in function not beauty, currently working on a rather large and power hungry workshop wiring project at work, I have training in refrigeration. 8" pipe, that will make one really big still! I was thinking more in the direction of several 3 or 4" to get the same capacity with less internal volume as discussed on Yahoo Group: Alcoholfuel. Actually, having nothing at the moment, if I had to do it alone, I would start small just because it's safer; do you have a smaller working model? I have a 5 ton 24' flatbed gas burner that could be used for fetching and toting, I have a 300g & 1000g milk tank, a 500g plain steel fuel tank that used to be underground on the place, a 300g galvanized fuel tank, a 3-5000 gallon plain steel tank, too heavy for me to move, with residue of bunker oil in it, that came with a 50hp Kewanee boiler, that has quite a history, also too heavy for me to move, a 50hp tractor, a few simple farm implements, a lot of used roofing tin, many buildings in desperate need of roofing and a 520sqft shop full of... stuff. I hope to call you this week also hope to go to the farm equipment auction the 21st & the native plant sale, also the 21st. I wear a portable phone from 7ish-3:30ish every weekday (the hours I SHOULD work but seldom really do) and am free to talk any time 360-738-9835 x.304, home is 398-2198 were I'm much less accessible. I really need to talk to my wife about it but also think, "We should definitely work together on these endeavors as it makes things easier and cheaper." jerry

Thanks Neuman I like those pictures, it's those little tricks-of-the-trade that makes life easier! Thanks again.

What's the trick to winding those small radius in the copper tubing? without kinking! I've tried winding double helixes like that and ended up with nasty kinks at the turn-around - any advise?

Hey Neuman! Is it obvious I don't know what I'm doing? Have no idea how that sumary wound up as a comment to you. That belongs on my main page. I changed my page to give a more explicit location. I'm north of Bellingham 6 miles just a half mile west of Guide Meridian (S.R.539) behind Z-Recyclers. Would like to talk to you, perhaps form an alliance. I think if we are to make alcohol and Permaculture more appealing to Whatcom County it would be helpful to have something to show off.

Jobs I've had, in cronological order, dairy farmer, appliance repairman, commercial refrigeration tech, cannery grunt, Kmart lumber dept manager, dairy farmer again, wood shavings baler / distributor, truck driver, assembler, purchasing manager and currently maintenance / R&D. While reading Dave's AA book I stopped and figured out how many tons of material I would have to handle and how few gallons of alcohol I would get and decided I would have to save money for quite a while before I could afford to purchase the required materials to make the necessary equipment. Perhaps the right answer is to form a team of friends.
